Person-Centred Therapy (PCT)

Person-Centred Therapy

Person-centred therapy, developed by Carl Rogers, is a humanistic approach to counselling that emphasises the client’s self-discovery and growth. It focuses on creating a non-judgmental and empathetic therapeutic relationship, where the therapist provides unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuineness to support the client’s self-exploration and personal development.

Elaine Bramhall is a person-centred counsellor. Elaine has been in the caring professions for many years, she qualified as a midwife in 1997 and worked in this role for 10 years before moving on to work in oncology and end of life care, where she supported staff to develop more effective communication skills when working with people who need the best possible communication style.

Elaine now divides her time between providing counselling here in Wilmslow to individuals and couples along with also providing communication and skills training to other health care professionals.

Elaine talks about her journey where she has cared and supported people from the first moments of their life to the last moments and she gives an insight of working with and coping with bereavement and grief.
